The Glass Menagerie is a play by Tennessee Williams that premiered in Chicago in 1944 and catapulted Williams to fame. The play will feature four main characters. Amanda Wingfield, the mother abandoned by her husband and raising her two children under harsh conditions. Tom, Wingfield, the son that works in a shoe warehouse but has aspirations of being a poet. Laura Wingfield, the daughter who is shy and sensitive with a slight limp that she has allowed to affect her entire personality. AND Jim O'Connor a "nice ordinary young man" who comes to call on Laura.
